Erin called me at work yesterday in tears. She told me that Matthew had somehow taken the sharp end of a coat hanger and dragged it along his back basically from his lower back all the way to his shoulders. She told me she'd never seen him cry as hard before. She took him to the doctor, who ruled against stiches. I have to admit, when I first saw it I was a little shocked. It's quite bad.
We did our first round of testing for the upcoming stake conference. We're trying something new this time -- a bridged wireless connection from the Royal Oak chaple to the West Stake Center in Silver Springs. Fortunately the steeple at the Royal Oak chapel can be seen from the roof of the silver springs chapel -- which means that with the right equipment, we can get a decent wireless network between the two buildings. Doing this gets us more bandwidth, and more importantly gets us off the public internet and onto a private network.
When we turned it on last night -- it didn't work at first. Then, to make matters worse -- President Heninger (2nd Counselor in the Stake Presidency) showed up to inspect our progress. He didn't say much at first, so I wan't sure what he was thinking. After getting it working, and trying several configurations we finally got it to a point where he agreed that it was acceptable.
The testing was successfull. I expect that we'll have an excellent broadcast on Sunday.
This coming weekend the stake presidency will be released. This is a big deal for Erin's family, in that her father is the current stake president, and has been in the stake presidency for the last 18 years. It'll be a major change for the Melchins. Elder Dalin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Tweleve Apostles will be attending the conference, and re-organizing the stake presidency. A historic ocassion for the Calgary Alberta West Stake.
